Plain English Summary: CURL.LY Offline is an open-source, client-side utility provided free of charge under the permissive MIT License. We do not run cloud servers for code generation, we do not monitor your use, and we do not warrant that generated barcodes comply with third-party proprietary scanners without proper user validation.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using the CURL.LY Offline mobile application or website (https://offline.curl.ly), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the software.

2. Permissive Open Source License

CURL.LY Offline is licensed under the terms of the MIT License. You are granted permission, free of charge, to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the software, subject to the conditions outlined in the official license.

3. Nature of Client-Side Operation

You acknowledge that:

  • All encoding, matrix computation, check digit calculations, and image rasterization occur exclusively on your local client hardware.
  • CURL.LY provides no cloud infrastructure, dynamic redirection services, or online database synchronization.
  • No service level agreement (SLA) or server uptime guarantee is provided because the software is designed to operate completely without internet connectivity.

4. User Responsibilities & Verification

While CURL.LY Offline implements standard barcode and QR specifications (including ISO/IEC 18004 for QR codes and GS1 General Specifications for retail barcodes):

  • Verification: You are solely responsible for testing and verifying that any barcode generated by CURL.LY Offline satisfies the readability and scan requirements of your specific optical hardware, point-of-sale scanner, inventory software, or logistics partner.
  • Lawful Use: You agree not to generate barcodes or QR codes intended for deceptive, unlawful, defamatory, or fraudulent purposes, including unauthorized reproduction of retail UPCs or distribution of malicious URLs.
  • Credential Safety: While the application includes local password masking, you are responsible for maintaining the physical security of your mobile device when displaying codes containing sensitive credentials.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall CURL.LY, its maintainers, or contributors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, business interruption, or labeling failure costs, arising out of the use of or inability to use this software.

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be published directly to this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the application following the posting of revised terms indicates your acceptance of the changes.
